The JLX-TP-8YT was the first and only successor to Sanwa Denshi’s original JLF series joystick. It was designed to improve both stability and smoothness of motion—similar to what the Otto DIY kit achieves. To accomplish this, Sanwa Denshi introduced several key changes to the original JLF. While some of these changes enhanced input accuracy for modern fighting games, many players still preferred the feel of the original JLF. Sanwa recognized that, despite its popularity, the JLF could benefit from minor refinements to elevate its overall performance

With the release of the JLX2, Sanwa Denshi took a more refined approach. They reverted to the original JLF actuator, which many players favored, while improving other internal components—most notably, the type of plastic used in the housing that secures the PCB

Check out the full specifications below for a detailed breakdown

  • Restrictor Plate: Comes preset to 8-way operation; can be rotated 45° to switch to 4-way mode

  • Actuator: Features a black actuator measuring 15.8mm in diameter, identical to the one used in the JLF series. This replaces the white 16.2mm actuator found in the original JLX, aiming for more consistent input registration

  • Metal Washer: Upgraded from a round to an X-shaped design with indents in the base, preventing rotation and reducing input deviation

  • Compatibility: Maintains compatibility with most JLF accessories, including ball tops, bat tops, and the 5-pin harness. However, the new washer and base are unique to the JLX2 and not interchangeable with previous models.
